Nel’atal is ‘atal – she is devoted and a true companion to those closest, dedication essential to her sense of purpose.
She can be described as an intense personality, but tries to be received positively. Nel'atal views touch as the sincerest form of communication.
Her reptilian companions and marksmanship ability are the core of her self-confidence and sense of value. Nel’atal views her raptors as family, and does not immediately resort to controlling them through fear or dominance.
Most of her life has been away from the Horde while training, but experiencing its cultures has had significant impact on her values - especially those of the Tauren. Nel'atal's loyalty to the Horde runs deep with Thrall's rescue of the Darkspear in her youth, and Vol'jin's position as Warchief. With her tribe's leader in control of the Horde and their victory over the Zandalari's uprising in Zul'Gurub and Pandaria, Nel'atal's pride in her tribe has become overzealous.
Voodoo has had a forbidden allure most of her life, but has not encountered darker aspects of the practice. To protect herself from the spirits of fallen enemies and appease her ancestors, she burns enemies' hearts or consumes some of their flesh if away from Horde. Her blood sacrifices are usually preformed on the last breaths of her hunts' life.
With the Darkspear's exile from Stranglethorn Vale, Nel'atal is not a fan of the other tribes of the former Gurubashi Empire. Her father's parents were slain by Bloodscalp in his youth, and this aversion has only strengthened from confrontation with the tribe.
She can be a chameleon when without power in social groups, but has no fear of expressing her perspective if challenged. Nel'atal has thrived with most social environments she has been in, and not one to shy away from speaking in front of crowds.
When she has authority it is earned, given, or stumbled into. Nel'atal does not ask for power and is uncomfortable having control she doesn't deem earned. However, Nel'atal is attracted to those with power tremendously, providing more feeling of security. Since the tribe was driven from her birthplace, she has been drawn to certainty and security.
She finds security in making plans both long and short term. With an insatiable thirst for adventure, she has difficulty holding still for long periods of time. Nel'atal loves to lose herself on hunting trips with her raptors, enjoying the persona of only primal needs.
The most concealed, and biggest aspect of Nel'atal, is her love to nurture and care for those closest; there is nothing that makes her as pleased as seeing family and friends happy directly from her actions. She views this as a monumental weakness waiting to be exploited, shrouding it in stern formality to most.
She has internal conflict with the Trollish marital system, wanting both the freedom of choosing a mate and being claimed. Her mate is a focal in life, judging self-worth on the happiness of her companion and how well she can serve their interests.
Meeting new people
At first contact, Nel’atal can come across as official, stern, and formal with how she views her nurturing side. This may cause others to call her reserved, or emotionally repressed if they sense this restraint.
As she begins to trust someone, she becomes more personable, and her pleasant temperament shows in brief bursts.
If she befriends this new individual, liking and trusting them, she allows herself full self-expression, sensing no harm in doing so.
